Gifts for the hour between porch light and dark.

A Halloween box that holds up past October 31st.

Ten boxed sets and a gift card, built around things people actually keep: beeswax pillars, sipping cocoa, heirloom gourds, stonewashed linen. No plastic cobwebs, no candy corn buried in the packing paper. Just a good box, taped and labeled.

  • Packed by hand
  • Ships from a small workshop
  • Gift note included

Nine gift sets, sorted by what they're for

Every set is assembled in the same order: the object first, the filler second, the smell last. Prices are the demo prices for this catalog — nothing on this page can be purchased directly, since the shop is a static preview. The tenth item, a gift card, sits just below the grid.

The Gloamgarden Gift Card

For the friend who already owns three lanterns. A letterpress-style card in a wax-sealed kraft envelope, made out in your handwriting or mine — your call at the note stage. Denominations are listed as $25 to $100, but treat them as illustrative: this build has no checkout and no redemption system, so no card here carries a balance.

  • A handwritten line from you
  • Not sold online, not redeemable

How a box gets built

Four decisions, made before anything is wrapped

A gift box goes wrong in the same three ways every time: filler that smells like a warehouse, an object nobody needs, and a bow covering the fact that there was nothing inside. Our packing sheet is a series of small refusals.

  1. Start with one real objectUsually something with weight — stoneware, iron, glass, linen. If it can't be held with one hand, it isn't the hero.
  2. Add something consumableCocoa, tea, caramels, soap. The gift gets used up instead of sitting in a cupboard until next fall.
  3. Choose one scent, not fiveBeeswax with clove, or stone and leaf. Two good smells in one box read as a mistake.
  4. Pack it to be reopenedTissue, paper tape, a note in actual ink. The box should survive a second life as storage.

The small print, said out loud

What we can promise — and what we won't

Four honest notes

  • Packed by two people

Not a warehouse. Boxes are assembled at a bench, which caps how many we can make and means a note gets read before it's sealed.

  • Reusable first

Crates, tins and baskets are chosen so they get kept. Plastic filler is out — the paper and tissue are curbside recyclable.

  • No invented reviews

There are no star ratings on this site because there is no order history to draw them from. When we quote someone, it's a real note with permission.

  • Small runs, named dates

Each set is packed in short runs. If something sells out, the page says so rather than quietly swapping in a substitute item.

Getting it there

Shipping, in plain terms

Full shipping page

  • Rates are quoted at the counter

Because boxes vary in weight and glass is heavy, shipping is calculated per order. This demo has no cart, so no rate is shown here — deliberately.

  • Glass gets its own padding

Jars and candles travel in molded pulp trays. If a jar arrives broken, that's on us, not on the carrier's fine print.

  • Gift notes are free

Every box can carry a handwritten card. Since this site can't take orders, that field lives on the contact form for now.

  • Timing is real, not aspirational

We don't publish a "guaranteed by Halloween" date, because a static demo has no fulfillment calendar behind it. Ask before you commit.

This is a static preview storefront. It has no cart, no payment processing and no order system. Nothing on these pages can be bought, and no shipping rates or delivery windows shown are live offers. To actually reach a person, use the details on the contact page.

Questions we get

Before you write to us

No. Gloamgarden is a static demonstration storefront — it's built from HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no server behind it. There is no cart and no checkout, and the contact form doesn't send anything either. The catalogue is here to show the range and the writing, not to take orders.

Candles and linens keep indefinitely. The food items in the treats boxes are the limiting factor: chocolate and caramels are best within about eight weeks, tea within a year of the lot date printed on the tin. Dried wreaths will shed a little, which is the nature of dried wreaths.

The black pillars are unscented beeswax — they smell faintly of honey and nothing else. The votives and jar candles are lightly scented with clove, cedar or stone-and-leaf accords, blended at roughly half the strength of a typical mall candle. If you've ever had a scented candle give you a headache, these probably won't.

On the two largest sets, sometimes, if the substitution is the same size and roughly the same cost — a different tea for the tea, an unscented votive for a scented one. Food allergies are the usual reason people ask, and we'd rather answer that question than guess.

We can pack identical sets for a team or a client list, but anything past about twenty boxes needs lead time and the order has to go through a conversation first. Use the contact page and describe the quantity, the date you need it and whether the boxes are shipping to one address or many.

Send a photo of the box as it landed before you tidy anything up. Broken glass and leaking jars are replaced, and the packing gets adjusted so it doesn't happen twice. Since this demo has no order system, the practical version of this answer lives on the shipping and returns page.

Questions about a set, a substitution, or whether a box will survive a cross-country trip: write it down and send it. We answer in the order things arrive, which occasionally means Tuesday.
